This product contains sodium azide, which has been classified as Xn (Harmful), in European Directive 67/548/EEC in the concentration range of 0.1-1.0 %. When disposing of this reagent through lead or copper plumbing, flush with copious volumes of water to prevent azide build-up in drains.

CMV is a member of the herpesvirus family. CMV is a DNA virus that is widespread in the general population and characterized by its ability to give rise to persistent latent infections. The virus is the largest of the herpesviruses and has the largest genome of any known virus. CMV is transmitted by the parenteral route and persists latently in circulating leukocytes and endothelial cells lining the walls of blood vessels.
