Background: Claudin 6 is a multipass transmembrane protein in the Claudin family. Claudin 6 is expressed by epithelial cells where it participates in tissue development and the maintenance of tight junction integrity. Claudin 6 is also a global marker of definitive endoderm. Directly interacts with TJP1/ZO-1, TJP2/ZO-2 and TJP3/ZO-3.
