- Hintergrund
- Background: Steroid receptor RNA activator 1 (SRA) was originally identified as a functional non-coding RNA that has been shown to be a coactivator of steroid receptors for androgens (AR), estrogens (ER), glucocorticoids, and progestins (PR). SRA exists in ribonucleoprotein complexes with steroid receptor coactivators (SRCs) and steroid receptors and may modulate transcriptional specificity. A 236 amino-acid protein encoded by an SRA-RNA isoform has also been identified. The SRA protein (SRAP) is widely expressed in breast cancer cell lines and breast cancer and has been demonstrated to modify the activity of the estrogen receptor.
