- Background: SF3A3 is one of 3 subunits of the SF3a splicing factor. SF3a is composed of a 60 kDa subunit (SF3A3/SF3a60), 66 kDa subunit (SF3A2/SF3a66), and a120 kDa subunit (SF3A1/SF3a120). SF3a is necessary for the in vitro conversion of 15S U2 snRNP into an active 17S particle that performs pre-mRNA splicing [taken from NCBI Entrez Gene (GeneID: 10946)].
