- Hintergrund
- Background: SET7 is a member of the SET (SuVar3-9, enhancer of Zeste, Trithorax) domain-containing protein family. SET7 functions as a histone methyltransferase that specifically monomethylates lysine-4 of histone H3. SET7 has also been observed to monomethylate non-histone proteins such as p53, TAF10, and the estrogen receptor. The methylating activity of SET7 is essential to cell cycle progression and genomic stability.
