- Hintergrund
- The Polycomb group (PcG) of gene products are essential for the maintenance, but not initiation, of the transcriptionally repressed state of development genes. Those genes encode a structurally diverse group of proteins with conserved functions from flies to human cells and from complexes as a result of mutual associations ultimately influencing gene expression. EZH2 is a human homologue of Drosophil's Enhancer of Zeste gene, an important regulator of homeobox gene expression. The expression of EZH2 was seen in follicular T cells and at different stages during T-cell differentiation. Additionally, in lymphocytes, EZH2 interacts with the signal transduction protein Vav and is highly expressed in a variety of tumors such as lymphoma and prostate. The predicted molecular weight for this protein is approximately 85 kDa (SwissProt:Q15910).
